My lil' gal is turning FIVE in just a few days...Yikes! I cannot believe it! Such a bittersweet time. My baby is growing up and kindergarten is on the horizon. I have been quite emotional regarding this process knowing that she is not a baby anymore. Any one else go through this?
This year, as posted earlier, I am putting together a rainbow + art + messy party for her. So much fun! Last year we threw a Woodland Fairy party. I originally found a set of invitations and printables from Paper and Pigtails that inspired this theme. Kori is amazing and such a delight to work with. She customized the colors for me, too! What a gorgeous set these were. You can find the Woodland Fairy invites and much more in her shop here.
I set the stage with a simple color palate: hot pink, light pink, cream, chocolate brown and moss green. I made yarn pom poms and hung them from our play room light fixture, strung twine across our play room windows and used large wood clothes pins to clip the party favor/fairy costumes to. Each costume had the child's name attached to it using the printable set Kori had made for me. Outside I hung a chandelier in our tree, along with ribbons that matched the color scheme. The wind did a magnificent job moving these around! I also set up white lanterns from Ikea filled with led tea lights to twinkle in the yard, and on the outside porch. My hubby strung white twinkle lights along our fence, and I created a simple twine and ribbon bunting {not pictured} along the fence as well. At the snack table I used an old tree stump as a decoration as well as moss runner...This looked fantastic but was quite messy! I dressed Paisley and Magnolia {by P's request} in our Vintage Silhouette tee and hot pink pettiskirts. They both love these tees and I think they looked fab with fairy wings!
When the guests arrived they were encouraged to pick a tutu, flower clip and wing set...then off they flew to get nails painted, hair glitter sprayed, and beaded necklaces made. Soon it was fairy snack time under the make shift fairy tent. The girls LOVED this! I read them a fairy story, too. After story time they were dancing, singing, twirling about until cake pops + cake. My bff ordered the customized toadstools and butterflies from her friend who owns Bella Bites Cake Pops. They were a crowd pleaser and a party favorite. The gorgeous pink ruffle cake was made by my neighbor across the street who happens to be an incredible pastry chef. How lucky am I?
This was the most decadent cake we had ever had made for a party. It was phenomenal! The 4 cake topper was a sparkler candle I picked up at Smeeks when Jen and I were in Phoenix for our photo shoot with Laura Winslow Photography last fall. I knew Paisley would get a kick of it it! I was right...
After cake, we let the fairies pick out glow bracelets + light sparklers! I know, not the safest idea but all the parents monitored their kiddos and the girls were in heaven. We definitely made this party unique and Paisley truly enjoyed EVERY minute!
A big {belated} thank you to all the vendors involved...Bella Bites Cake Pops, Paper and Pigtails, and Adam Sear Photography.
I am looking forward to a colorful + art filled party this weekend. I will post much sooner this time and will not let a year pass by...
Happy Thursday,
Melissa
